The ILIMITED consortium held its 6-month General Assembly on 16–17 June 2025, hosted by RINA at their offices in Milan, Italy. The two-day meeting brought together project partners from across Europe to review progress, exchange insights, and define the next steps for the upcoming phases of the project.
The key points are:
- Enhanced Quantum Mechanical Basis: The researchers proposed a new parametrization utilizing a more robust quantum mechanical approach, BP-TZVPD-FINE, which provides a refined description of molecular and ionic charge densities.
- Improved Accessibility: The new parametrization is implemented in JCOSMO software, supporting input files from TURBOMOLE, which improves the model’s accessibility for nonexpert users.
- Demonstrated Accuracy: The model was rigorously evaluated using nearly 7,000 experimental data points and showed improved accuracy compared to previous versions, particularly for complex systems like amines, ethers, and dipolar aprotic solvents.

The meeting marked an important milestone, providing a valuable opportunity for in-person collaboration and strategic alignment after months of intensive technical work. Partners presented updates on ongoing work packages, discussed key challenges, and identified opportunities for further synergies between the various technical and horizontal activities.
Day 1 of the Assembly focused on communication and dissemination activities, updates from the first technical work package, and a hands-on exploitation workshop led by RINA. This session aimed to strengthen the consortium’s approach to knowledge management and exploitation, ensuring that project results can effectively contribute to industrial innovation and long-term impact.
Day 2 shifted the focus to the technical core of the project, with detailed discussions on system performance, integration aspects, and sustainability considerations across the value chain. The sessions facilitated constructive exchanges on technical progress, challenges encountered, and strategies to maximise the project’s outcomes.
The consortium expressed its appreciation to all partners for their active participation, constructive discussions, and collaborative spirit. The General Assembly reaffirmed ILIMITED’s commitment to advancing its objectives and delivering innovative, sustainable solutions within the project’s scope.
