Dr Murilo Alcantara from Universidade de Aveiro (UAv) presented the ILIMITED project research activities at the XXIX Encontro Luso-Galego de Química in Braga, Portugal.
In his presentation, “COSMO + AI for screening of solvents: case study of methanol synthesis”, Dr Alcantara explained how to accelerate the conversion of CO₂ into methanol using AI and thermodynamics to identify safer, heat-resistant liquids that extract products as they form.
The XXIX Encontro Luso-Galego de Química (29th Portuguese–Galego Chemistry Meeting) was hosted at the Braga Forum. This international conference has been organised since 1958 and aims to promote science and cooperation between Portugal and Galicia. The meetings provide a space for building collaborative networks and fostering the exchange of knowledge among researchers, students, and professionals in chemistry. The event was organised by the Portuguese Chemical Society, Colegio Oficial de Químicos de Galicia, and the Association of Chemists of Galicia.
